About AOGIN India

More than 50% of cervical cancer cases in the developing world are in the Asian-Pacific region, with a quarter in India. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is identified as the primary cause of cervical cancer and other genital cancers. Fortunately, timely screening and vaccination, as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), offer prevention pathways including elimination of cervical cancer.

Established in 2009, AOGIN India is the Indian chapter of the Asia Oceania Research Organization in Genital Infection & Neoplasia, echoing EUROGIN's success. Collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary healthcare groups, AOGIN India focuses on health promotion, training, community-based interventions, and cutting-edge research. We engage healthcare providers in women's health for collaboration, scientific exchanges, education, and training, facilitating information dissemination and audits.

AOGIN India is a membership organisation that welcomes clinicians and scientists specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Gynecological Oncology, Paediatrics, Pathology & Microbiology, Preventive Medicine, and Family Practice. Postgraduate students, scientists, and voluntary organizations aligned with our mission are encouraged to join.

Vision Statement

AOGIN India’s vision is to reduce the burden of diseases caused by reproductive tract infections, especially Human Papillomavirus (HPV), in India. Furthermore, AOGIN India’s mission is to work with governments, non-governmental organisations, learned societies, health care workers and the lay public, to communicate, cooperate and share information in India and neighbouring countries pertaining to prevention, early detection and management of cervical cancer and other genital cancers.
